Using a treadmill is both efficent and easy to use provided you have been assessed by your Physiotherapist and GP prior to use.   A treadmill is the closest thing to walking which is one of the best whole body workouts and probably the most functional exercise you can do.

The advantages of a treadmill over walking are;

  • There can be rails for added support when required.
  • There is objective data to use such as speed, angle, time etc.
  • Weather does not affect your ability to go walking.
  • There is less or no travel time when using at home – this is particularly important when travelling in a car makes your condition worse (common in lower back pain)
