Occupational Health Physiotherapy is concerned with providing Services and Solutions to improve Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
Physiotherapist are in a unique position due to their in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, physics and musculoskeletal injuries to provide services that are specifically tailored Occupational situations. Occupational Physiotherapists generally have post graduate qualifications in Ergonomics, Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational therapy or simply have experience in these fields.
The main focus in Occupational Health is on 3 objectives:
- Maintenance and Improvement of workers’ health and working capacity;
- Improvement of working environment and work processes to optimise Health & Safety;
- Development of a working culture that supports health and safety. Promotion of the concept of a working culture that essentialy values systems adopted to improve health & safety. This culture is reflected in the managerial systems, personnel policy, principles for participation, training policies and quality management of the undertaking.
The main goal of these objectives is to ensure that “no worker will return home from work in a worse physical or mental state then when they went to work”.
